On Wednesday 16 December, the African Prize Foundation awarded the Africanity Trophy to Shaykh Muhammad Faouzi Al Karkari, Shaykh of the Moroccan Karkari Zawiya.
This prestigious Trophy crowns each year the efforts of various African and international personalities and presidents who have made every effort and carried out several actions and projects in the service of Africanity in many human, social, cultural, spiritual, economic and sporting fields.
“We awarded this prize to Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari, in view of the important role played by this Moroccan Sufi Zawiya in carrying out social, economic and educational initiatives through the intensive activities of its followers spread across several African countries”, said Mr Nasrallah Belkhayate, president of the African Prize Foundation.
As a reminder, through these initiatives undertaken almost everywhere in Africa, in East Asia, in South America, in Madagascar, in Sri Lanka and in other countries across the world, the Karkari disciples seek to put into action the precepts of the spiritual education given to them by their Shaykh, Sidi Mohamed Faouzi AL Karkari.
About the Karkariya Zawiya:
The Karkariya Sufi Order, a Path of spiritual education, aims to bring the servant to the station of Ihsan so that he may then realise himself in worship and vision: “That you worship Allah as if you see Him” [Sahih al-Bukhari], in the journey (suluk) and divine knowledge (ma‘rifa) until his whole life is solely for Allah (lillah), the Lord of the Worlds… and that is why following the Qur’an and the sunna at every moment is a sine qua non for the traveller…
About the Africanity Trophy Foundation:
The Foundation encourages interfaith dialogue, economic justice, cultural diplomacy, excellence in leadership, innovation, good governance, the empowerment of women, freedom of expression, the pursuit of economic independence, sustainable development, pan-African patriotism, solidarity among the peoples of the African world, pride in African values through individual or collective success, and cultural authenticity.
