Spiritual evening with the Shaykh in Paris

At the beginning of June, we announced a new “Toute Fraterni-thé” meeting with the main theme “Ramadan, a renewed reading of the Qur’an”. We were honoured to be able to welcome our Shaykh, Sidi Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari – may Allah sanctify his secret – again for the meeting. The lecture, accompanied by a group Iftar (breaking of the fast) and a spiritual vigil, took place on Saturday 10 June precisely. The hall was packed and the guests happy, notably with the visit of the disciples of the Qadiriyya Sufiyya Tariqa.

For the Shaykh’s welcome, it was the airport that dressed in various colours through the presence of the disciples.

Before the talks by the various disciples, Sidi Shaykh answers the questions of the participants present, with a group recitation of Surat Ya Sin, al-Fath, al-Waqi‘a and al-Mulk.

On the theme “Ramadan, a renewed reading of the Qur’an”, we heard the talks of Sidi Abderrazzaq, chaplain and specialist in the Arabic language, Sidi Abu Nur, doctor of law and jurist of the Maliki school, and finally Sidi Suhayl Adrien, Arabic/French translator. All three are disciples of Sidi Shaykh.

After the Maghrib prayer, the participants and the disciples had approximately an hour of free time for the Iftar. An occasion for everyone to talk fraternally about subjects relating to spirituality.

As is customary in the Karkariya Sufi Order, after the Maghrib prayer the wird takes place, open to all. It was followed by the ‘Isha prayer and the night prayers (Tarawih) led by Sidi Abu Nur.

Sidi Shaykh came down a few hours before Subh to offer a question-and-answer session or a direct talk from himself. As no question was asked, he gave a commentary on the Night of Power and on certain verses relating to the Messenger Musa – peace be upon him – and his nursing, translated with great care by Sidi Hatim. The gathering will soon be available in the form of an article.

The evening closed with a group meal (suhur) and the Subh prayer.

The Shaykh devoted Sunday exclusively to the disciples, with a gathering for the women and then for the men after a walk in the park.

May Allah accept the fast of this month of Ramadan for all the Muslims of the world and place us in the shade of the Blessed Tree of the silsila (the chain of transmission of the Saints), following His Intimate Friends.
