The Karkariya Sufi Order
at Shaykh Anass Tigra’s conference

On Saturday 4 July 2015, 5 fuqara of the Karkariya Sufi Order, Belgian and French, took part, by the permission and baraka of our Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari, in the honourable and instructive conference given by Shaykh Anass Tigra, a graduate of the prestigious university of Al-Azhar in Egypt, Mrs Faten Sfar, geology engineer and theologian, and finally Shaykh Jammal Oussama, founder of the non-profit association Itinéraire et Dialogue, a pupil of Shaykh Anass Tigra and host on the radio station ARABEL.

The battle of Badr and its commemoration were the main subjects of this conference, organised by the newly created association chaired by Shaykh Anass Tigra, the non-profit association ISNAD, an association that stresses the importance of the sanad (the chain of transmission) for a sound Islam, far from any sectarian excess.

At 7 p.m. the conference began after the ‘asr prayer, led by Shaykh Anass Tigra. First an opening with the recitation of the Qur’an, followed by a historical account of the facts by Mrs Faten Sfar, with all the details on the honourable 314 companions of the battle of Badr, an expedition that turned into an improvised battle. A confrontation widely known for the intervention of an army of more than 1,000 angels sent by God, Exalted be He.

A historical reminder from which one must necessarily benefit in order to continue with the programme: the talk of Shaykh Anass Tigra on the spiritual aspect of the battle of Badr. Many important reminders were given, one particularly interesting one informing us that in the battle of Badr no hypocrite was present among the 314 participants; they were all unquestionably virtuous. Who today would be capable of sacrificing himself, of placing himself before a man targeted by arrows and swords in order to take his place among the victims? Who today could, without hypocrisy, lay claim to the Love of the Messenger of God (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? As long as the Muslim has not sacrificed even a tenth of what the companions sacrificed, he cannot lay claim to such declarations.

It should be recalled that few Muslims around the world commemorate the anniversary of the battle of Badr, and yet there is no battle but the battle of Badr. Allah, Exalted be He, sent down verses in praise of the fighters, sent down upon their hearts the sakina (tranquillity) and granted them spiritual gifts that ink, even in a quantity equal to the oceans, could not describe. And finally, before continuing with the rest of the programme, we will briefly recall that the word Badr also means the Moon, which refers to Light, and that the number 314 is not insignificant either, since it represents the number Pi (3.14), which represents the circle, which itself represents the letter Ha of the Supreme Name Allah.

For the third and penultimate part of the evening, the talk of Shaykh Jammal Oussama on the importance of praying upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), of feeling Love for him, and of following his footsteps (his sunna) in our daily life.

And finally, to close the talks before the Iftar, the evening was Ba‘alawi, since part of the poem of Shaykh Habib Omar was recited, followed by a session of communal dhikr aloud and finally du‘a.

We thank the association ISNAD for organising this beautiful conference, the speakers, and the sisters who provided the Iftar for the participants.

We ask Allah, Exalted be He, to let us benefit from the wisdoms and deep meanings that come from the battle of Badr. We ask Allah, Exalted be He, to illuminate the heart of every person present at this conference and to bind them to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) through his reality: the Muhammadan Light.
