The Karkariya Sufi Order undertakes a humanitarian initiative in the Philippines

The national press has not stopped relaying, lately, the humanitarian actions of the Karkariya Sufi Order at the national and African level. But now this Sufi path surprises us once again with the breadth of its spiritual and humanitarian influence, which has reached the far corners of the Philippines. Yes, you read correctly, the Philippines. The very country with which Morocco maintains exemplary bilateral relations.

Indeed, the Karkariya Sufi Order, which has reached an international dimension in a few years under the guidance of its spiritual master, Shaykh Sidi Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari, has initiated two charitable and humanitarian actions in two different regions of the Philippines. Despite the lockdown conditions caused by Covid-19, bags of food supplies were distributed to the inhabitants of two villages. The first action took place at the mosque of the village of Kalawag near the city of Isulan. The second benefited the inhabitants of Kakal, a very marginalised village almost cut off from the world.

The actions carried out by this Moroccan Sufi path show in its disciples a remarkable responsiveness to the needs of the needy. This is no stranger to the spiritual teaching they receive within the Karkariya Sufi Order, whose foundations Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari laid in accordance with the tradition of the Prophet, prayer and peace be upon him. The teaching of this Moroccan Sufi path rests in particular on several wisdoms of the Shaykh, one of the most famous of which is: “lower your ego and ennoble your neighbour. ”

That said, it must be noted that these spiritual, social and humanitarian actions are carried out with ardour despite the difficult conditions experienced by this Moroccan Tariqa. These conditions and difficulties were relayed by an open letter to the Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, sent by Nasrallah Belkhayate, President of the Africanity Trophy Foundation. In his plea, Mr Nasrallah invites the ministry to recognise the status of a Moroccan Zawiya for the Karkariya Sufi Order, which plays an important role in Morocco’s spiritual influence at the African and international level.
