Mawlid in Light (2018) – Photos & videos

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
و الصلاة و السلام على أشرف المرسلين
و على اله و اصحابه أجمعين
After the great mawlid at the zawiya in Morocco, in the company of the shaykh, the disciples in France decided to organise at the end of December a celebration of the birth of the Prophet ﷺ which they called “Mawlid in Light”. In Light, because that is how the mother of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, our mother Amina (may Allah be pleased with her), saw the chosen one ﷺ being born. She did not see a body come forth; rather, she beheld the horizon lit up by the Light of the beloved ﷺ.
Some will say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is no longer of this world… as for us, we declare loud and clear that he is indeed present in our hearts, a presence we contemplate.
On 29 December the long-awaited event took place, in a hall in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Île-de-France). It was, besides an occasion for the general public, an opportunity for the disciples of the Karkariya in Europe to see each other again and share a fraternal moment.
Find at the end of the article an album of more than 150 photos covering the whole event (or consult the album directly on our Facebook page).
The hall was opened well before the announced time (7 p.m.) to make the various arrangements, set up the sound system and let the singers rehearse their respective performances.

At 7 p.m., the event was introduced by the evening prayer (‘isha) and the group recitation of Surat Ya-Sin.

A first talk was given by the Maliki jurist and disciple Abu Nur on the permissibility and above all the recommendation of celebrating the birth of the beloved ﷺ. Then it was Suhayl’s turn to speak on the importance of attachment to the Blessed Tree (cf. Qur’an).

To let minds rest after the two talks, the fuqara performed a set of songs accompanied by the darbuka. We are happy to have been able to count on a DJ-mixer for a quality sound system.

Finally, for the last speeches, Jamil spoke about illiteracy and its necessity in the disciple’s journey, whereas this notion carries many prejudices in our modern society.
Florian, for his part, gave us a personal testimony mixed with Sufi teachings and a recitation of a poem against a musical background.

For the end of the event, the singers took up their positions again for various chanted poems which brought about the rising of a spiritual dance in a circle (hadra). As tradition requires, supplications were pronounced after the hadra.

And to close the evening, a delicious meal was served to all the participants.

Thank you to all the participants, and we hope to see you again at our next events.
