While Sidi Shaykh was already in France, he received an invitation from a disciple in Montauban for a public meeting at his residence. Sidi Shaykh accepted and flew on New Year’s Day from Lyon to Toulouse.

The event did not bring together many people, but had its surprise with the conversion of a woman who came to meet Sidi Shaykh after dreaming of him the night before the meeting.

Some disciples had made the journey by car a day earlier to welcome Sidi Shaykh at the airport, and others joined him later.

As we said, the gathering did not attract many people; it was in fact the first time Sidi Shaykh had come to Montauban. Nevertheless, he received during the meeting a visit from the imam of the mosque of Montauban.

The surprise and the high point of the meeting was of course the conversion to Islam. A yoga teacher who had been confronted with many religions and philosophies, owing to her countless travels in particular, came in and told the exceptional story that led her to come and meet Sidi Shaykh.

Her first contact with Sufism was through reading the texts of Rumi, after which she dreamed of Sidi Shaykh for the first time. Then on the eve of Sidi Shaykh’s coming she dreamed again: she saw a piece of wisdom of the Karkariya which she later found, while searching the internet, on this very site.

As things were well arranged, she saw the announcement of the meeting in Montauban and travelled to see Sidi Shaykh. Finally, after a serious conversation, she chose to convert to Islam.

The disciples who followed the Shaykh to Montauban are also those who followed him to Bordeaux for the next stage.
