Muhammad ibn al-Qasim al-Bakmani

Muhammad ibn al-Qasim, nicknamed al-Bakmani, succeeded his father as head of the western Rif. He maintained Idrisid authority in the region despite the weakening of power in Fez.
A context of decline
When he takes the lead of the western Rif, the central power of the Idrisids in Fez is falling apart. He nevertheless manages to maintain his family's authority over his region.
Descendants
He had several children, among them Ahmad ibn Muhammad, known as Ahmad Belkarti, forefather of Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi Al Karkari.
