Sidi ʿIssa ibn Mimoun, known in several works as Sidi Makhoukh, is one of the sons of Mimoun Abu Wakil. Settled near Oujda, he left a lasting trace in local memory: his mausoleum is at El Aïoun Sidi Mellouk.
Childhood and settlement
He grew up in the village of Ighejd, in the province of Errachidia, then settled near Oujda, at El Aïoun Sidi Mellouk, where he died.
Local memory
A mausoleum was built over his grave, and many public buildings in the town bear his name today.
Descendants
Among his children was Sidi ʿAli ibn ʿIssa, from whom descend, generation after generation, Moulay Mohamed, Moulay al-Hassan, Moulay ʿIssa, Moulay Yahya, Moulay Zakariya, Moulay ʿAbd al-ʿAziz, Moulay Abdallah, Moulay ʿAbd ar-Rahman, Moulay Yahya, Moulay ibn Zayd, Moulay Ibrahim, Moulay Yaʿqub, Moulay ʿAli, Moulay Moussa and then Sidi ʿAli ibn Moussa.
