Conference “The Pardon of the 7 Saints”

The fuqara of the Karkariya Sufi Order gathered for the first time in Brittany at the annual meeting in the commune of Vieux-Marché called the “Islamic-Christian pilgrimage”, to take part in the event “The Pardon of the 7 Saints”, established by the former mufti of the Comoros and by one of the first and most illustrious Islamologists and masters of the French language, Louis Massignon.
On 25 July 2015 there gathered the fuqara of Lille, Sidi Mustafa and Sidi Mohamed, Sidi Billel of Rennes and finally Sidi El Djadid of Bordeaux. Brother Daoud, a native (and resident) of Brittany, had drawn attention to the event, hitherto unknown to the fuqara. Let us recall that brother Daoud was the subject of a report by France 2 entitled “Islam, the faith of converts”, broadcast on the 8 p.m. news.

The conference

The conference was on the theme of music, illustrated by various speakers, among them the famous presenter of the programme “Islam” on France 2, Ghaleb Bencheikh, and the author and performer Slimane Rezki, who insisted on the science of vibrations around Dhikr (invocation).

Islam and the pardon of the 7 Saints
The biggest question the reader may ask is “What link is there between Islam and this event?” This annual meeting established by the former Mufti of the Comoros and Louis Massignon has its origin in the account that is told of the 7 Saints. To help you understand the connection, we present a video in which Patrick, a Christian by faith, tells us a story linked to this place, the hamlet of the 7 Saints. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
An unexpected meeting
The meeting ended on Sunday at the fountain, where we took part in laying the first pillar of living together, very close to one of the 7 fountains around the grotto.

We had the honour of meeting Xabikh, a disciple of the Dom Tariqa, whose shaykh is called Shaykh Dominique. We spent an afternoon with this brother, who has applied himself to a simple way of life, in complete modesty. He showed us a tree reputed to be holy, incredibly beautiful and with imposing roots. We performed the dhuhr prayer with our brother, who showed us the direction of Mecca without a compass.

Finally we performed the wird of the Karkariya and chanted a qasida (poem) together in front of the tree, sitting in the triangle of the Basmala in order to draw the maximum baraka from this blessed moment.

We ask Allah to let us benefit from the baraka linked to this place on which Saints may have walked centuries and centuries ago. We also ask Allah to let us attend the next meetings so as to lay the rest of the 7 pillars.
