Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari invited to Yale University

Pursuing his mission as president of the Al-Karkari Institute, which consists in promoting and building bridges between the university world and traditional Sufism, Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari was invited on 12 February 2025 by the MacMillan Center for International & Area Studies to lead a workshop at Yale University.
Before an audience of researchers and students from various disciplines of the university, the Moroccan Sufi master shared an in-depth study of the poems of the very famous Sufi Ibn Arabi, exploring the linguistic structure of the verses and their deep symbolism, and deciphering the poem in the light of the spiritual experiences lived by Ibn Arabi.
An enriching talk, captivating for the audience, and proof that both worlds benefit greatly from such exchanges.

The other highlight of the evening was the presentation of the new academic journal entitled “Nun” and of its website, by its editor-in-chief, Dr Rami Koujah (researcher at the Kamel Center for the Study of Islamic Law and Civilization), motivated by the teachings of the Moroccan Sufi master.
As a reminder, the Arabic letter nun (ن), formed of an arc of a circle and a dot, symbolises in traditional Sufi teaching the manifestation of divine knowledge in the realm of the apparent (dhahir).
