The “Moche Benmimoun Association for Jewish Heritage in Morocco and Living Together” visits the Karkariya Zawiya

A delegation, including the honorary Consul of the Netherlands, the representative of the Consul of Spain and President of the Council of Philosophy Professors of Melilla, as well as the President of the association “Moche Benmimoun”, Mr Abdellali Al-Rahmani, visited the Karkariya Zawiya in the city of al-Aroui with the aim of promoting intercultural exchange between the various religious and cultural affiliations.

It was an occasion for the representatives of the Karkariya Zawiya to welcome them and to recall the important role played by the Sufi path in its efforts to promote and spread peace and living together among all the communities of the world, and more particularly those that make up the Kingdom of Morocco. They also recalled the attachment of all members of the Karkariya brotherhood to the authority of the sharifian throne.

The meeting was then enlivened by an exchange of gifts from Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari, who addressed all his guests in these terms: “Welcome here, and just as Allah has gathered us all in this blessed place, we beseech Him to gather us again and on many occasions, and that by His grace He make all of us servants of the divine Light, about which He says:

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His Light is like a niche in which there is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is like a brilliant star. It is lit from a blessed tree, an olive neither of the east nor of the west. Its oil would almost glow even if no fire touched it. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills.

Since Allah has informed us that His Light is the light of the heavens and the earth, what can be said of the human being, who by essence carries within him the secret of his Lord, walking and living between earth and heaven.

We have taken as the major teaching of our life the growing and magnifying of everything Allah has created, in the heavens and on the earth, whatever its nature… but our regard for the human being is far greater than for anything else, since he is the bearer of a message of love and peace, a message of light and tranquillity, for the Universe and all it contains.

In this sense, we beseech Allah to make your coming a coming of love, peace and good understanding, and to raise up and bring to fruition the aim for which you have travelled here, in the approval of Allah, of His Messenger ﷺ and of all humanity. And peace be upon you, as well as the mercy of Allah and His blessings.”

A great meal was then served in honour of the guests, and the meeting closed with a renewal of the attachment of all the subjects of the Kingdom of Morocco to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him.
