The celebration of the birth of the Prophet (prayer and peace be upon him) is the most important event of the year for all the disciples of the Karkariya. Disciples travel from all over the world to gather at the Karkariya Zawiya to renew their commitment to the Shaykh. This commitment, which each made to Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari (may Allah sanctify his secret), gave them access to the vision of the divine Light.

The disciple regards the day (when he took the pact) as his birthday, the day of his birth. Indeed Allah the Most High says: Is he who was dead and We brought him to life and gave him a light by which he walks among the people, like one who is in darkness from which he cannot emerge? Thus what they used to do was made attractive to the disbelievers. (Surat al-An‘am (The Cattle), verse 122).

The Light of the Prophet is life, and the disciple lives from the moment he enters the pact with the authentic educating Shaykh.

So every sensible person will understand the importance that the disciples of the Karkariya Sufi Order give to the Mawlid an-Nabawi Sharif, the day of the birth of the Prophet (prayer and peace be upon him).

Every year, then, Shaykh Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari (may Allah sanctify his secret) organises the celebrations for this blessed day. The festivities extend over a full week, until the 7th day, for the ‘aqiqa of the Prophet (prayer and peace be upon him).

Welcome of the disciples from Oujda

The procession of the disciples of Oujda after the dhuhr prayer, followed by a hadra and the meal.

**The ‘asr prayer**

Communal ‘asr prayer, then dhikr until maghrib. After the maghrib prayer the disciples go on with the wird, then the recitation of the Qur’an until the ‘isha prayer, after which the festivities begin.
