A Karkari disciple who came from Australia…

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم و الصلاة و السلام على أشرف المرسلين
و على اله و اصحابه أجمعين

We present our Australian brother Abu Ali (see photo), who comes to us from Sydney… His intention in coming was to learn the ruqya, and when he presented himself before Mawlana Mohamed Faouzi el-Karkari (qaddasa Allahu sirrahu), the latter explained to him that there were two types of ruqya:

– The shar‘iyya ruqya, which consists simply of reciting specific Qur’anic verses…

– The ruhiyya (spiritual) ruqya, which is a shar‘iyya ruqya to which are added teachings linked to the vision of the Muhammadan Light and to the Secrets of ma‘rifa.

He then explained to him that if he only wished to learn the shar‘iyya ruqya, this could be done very quickly, simply by writing down the specific Qur’anic verses for each illness… but if he wished, he could just as well choose to stay for a while at the zawiya, take the bay‘a and begin to practise dhikr in order to refine his inner Vision… and so, little by little, climb the steps, until reaching the Knowledge of Allah – subhanahu wa ta‘ala – at the end of a three-day spiritual retreat, as many Karkari murids have already done…

And so today, at the zawiya of al-Aroui, we can enjoy the company of this brother from Australia, who came for a purpose related to this lower world but who, realising the true treasure he had just laid hands on, changed his intention and desired only one thing: to reach this Supreme Knowledge, the Knowledge of his Lord.

May Allah ease his journey and grant him a spiritual opening in proportion to the sacrifice of this long journey from the other end of the world to meet the Shaykh.

Our Shaykh, Sidi Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari – qaddasa Allahu sirrahu – says in one of his poems:

If you seek a quick ruqya* in my company /// be Karkari, annihilated in my presence
You will then see oceans of limitless Lights /// and you will see surprising things from unknown worlds, and others of astonishing power

*The word ruqya used here of course refers to the healing of the illnesses of the ego, and not to problems of possession or the like…
